Natural pools to visit with your dog

There’s nothing better in summer than being able to enjoy nature and take a dip in a natural environment, right? But… what if we tell you that you can also do it with your furry friend? In this article we’ll tell you which are the best natural pools to go to with dogs; the most incredible swamps, lakes, rivers and reservoirs to spend the day with your best friend and have fun together. Here we go!

Natural pools for dogs in Madrid and surrounding areas

These are our favorite swamps:

Atazar reservoir, Cervera de Buitrago

This is the largest reservoir in Madrid, where you can practice various activities such as canoeing, sailing or windsurfing. But you can also do some of them with your best friend because in this reservoir you can practice kayaking with your dog ! Without a doubt, an incredible plan to enjoy something different together.
It is surrounded by paths where you can take routes with your dog to end up taking a refreshing dip.

San Juan Reservoir, San Martin de Valdeiglesias

The beach in Madrid and possibly the best known of all, so it can be quite busy in high season.
Dogs are not supposed to be allowed to swim, but there are always dogs in the area. Try to go in low season and look for an area where there are no people so as not to bother anyone and to be able to enjoy a different day with your furry friend.
Within this reservoir is also the Lancha del Yelmo , a large reservoir where you can also swim with your dog, although under the same guidelines so as not to have any problems. Here you will find a kiosk and tables to eat.

Reservoirs, rivers and other natural pools for dogs

The best thing about these places is that, in addition to swimming, they are also ideal for hiking and enjoying nature with your best friend.

Picadas Reservoir, Pelayos de la Dam

Near the San Juan reservoir, there is another less crowded bathing area where you can go with your dog. It is a natural environment with lots of vegetation and wonderful views. It has an area with tables and fountains. We recommend taking the “Las Picadas” route to the dam.

Pinilla Reservoir, Lozoya

This reservoir is located in the heart of the Sierra de Guadarrama and, in addition to swimming with your dog, you can also go canoeing there!

Alberche Beach, Fresno Village

Another of the best natural pools to go to with dogs very close to Madrid. A great place to go hiking and have a nice swim with our best friend. The regulations are that dogs must be on a leash, but they are officially allowed in.

Eresma River, Segovia – Valladolid

It is not a reservoir or a swamp, but you can cool off and enjoy an incredible setting. Beautiful paths and trails surrounded by trees that you cannot miss, with beautiful views of the Sierra de Guadarrama. If you and your dog like nature trails, this is a must-see.

Rascafría clips

Bathing area with extensive green meadows divided into three natural pools. Dogs are not allowed to enter or swim here, however, in the surrounding area you can find beautiful natural landscapes where you can camp and walk with your furry friend.

Burguillo Reservoir, Avila

This is one of the most pristine reservoirs that we can find near Madrid, about 10 km from Pantano de San Juan. It is one of the most beautiful bathing areas, ideal for spending the day and taking long walks with your best friend. You cannot miss this place.

Donkey’s Mouth, Segovia

beautiful natural setting where you can spend a fantastic day with your furry friend, with pools of water formed by the Eresma River where you can cool off.
